Reorder the pages of a PDF

A duplex scanner that feeds the stack the wrong way produces a document in the order 2, 1, 4, 3, 6, 5. Reordering by hand in a full editor is painful; here it is a grid and two arrows per page.

The three orders people actually need

Reversing a duplex scan: every pair of pages is swapped. Fixing it page by page is tedious, but you only need to move the odd pages forward one position.

Putting a signature page at the end: the page exists, it is just in the wrong place. Move it to the end and the document reads correctly.

Rebuilding a bundle from a scan: cover, contract, annex, receipts — usually interleaved because they were scanned together. The thumbnail grid makes the intended order obvious.

What happens to the file

The output is a new PDF whose page objects are copied in your order. Nothing is re-encoded, so text stays selectable and images keep full resolution. The original file is never modified, which matters if the order turns out to be wrong.

Page labels, bookmarks and internal links are a limitation: this tool rebuilds the page tree, so a document with a hand-made outline loses it. For contracts and scans — the usual cases — there is nothing to lose.

Questions

Can I also rotate while reordering?

Yes. Each thumbnail has a 90° control, so a landscape page inside a portrait bundle can be fixed in the same pass.

Does it preserve form fields?

Form fields live in the page objects and survive, but cross-page calculations are not recalculated. For scanned documents this is irrelevant.

Is there a page limit?

No hard limit. Thumbnail rendering is the slow part on a 300-page file, not the reordering or saving.
