Split a PDF into separate files
One document in, many documents out — either by page range or one file per page.
Split PDF — free and local
Splits one PDF into page ranges or a single file per page, delivered as a ZIP.
How to do it
The fastest route is one file per page with the results packed into a ZIP, which avoids the browser blocking a dozen downloads at once.
Every output file is named after the original with the page number appended, so a folder of splits stays sortable instead of turning into document(3)(final).pdf.
Why splitting beats re-printing
Printing selected pages to a new PDF is the office workaround, but it re-renders every page: text becomes an image in some drivers, links and form fields disappear, and file size often grows. Splitting copies the original page objects instead, so nothing is lost.
It also preserves the page geometry exactly — no scaling to fit a paper size, no accidental margins.
Privacy, since page ranges are revealing
The pages you choose to extract can reveal what you were asked for: a specific clause, a specific invoice, one employee record. Doing that on a server means handing over the unredacted whole. Here the file never leaves the tab, and the original is never modified.
Questions
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied into a new document without re-encoding, so resolution and the text layer are preserved exactly.
How do I get multiple files at once?
They arrive as a single ZIP. One range produces one PDF and downloads directly; several produce a ZIP named after the source file.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Only after removing its password — encrypted pages cannot be read without it.
