Turn a PDF page into an image

Turn a PDF page into an image means choosing a resolution, because PDF pages are vectors and text while images are pixels. often you need one page, not the whole document — a chart for a slide, a page for a chat message.

Which DPI to pick

72 DPI equals the page at screen size — fine for thumbnails and quick previews, and the fastest to export. 150 DPI is roughly double and is the best default: sharp on any screen, acceptable in a document. 300 DPI is print quality and produces files about four times the size of 150 DPI.

For an A4 page, 150 DPI means roughly 1240×1754 pixels, and 300 DPI roughly 2480×3508 pixels. That is the number to check if a downstream tool requires a minimum image size.

One page or the whole document

Enter a page range like 1-3, 7 to export only those pages; leave it as "all" to convert everything. Multi-page exports arrive as a ZIP with each page numbered, so they sort correctly in a file browser.

For a single page — the usual case when you need a chart for a slide — export just that page and download the image directly.

JPG or PNG, in one line

Photos and scans: JPG, because the compression is invisible on continuous-tone images and the file is much smaller. Diagrams, screenshots, text-heavy pages: PNG, because JPG puts halos around sharp edges and makes small text muddy.

Questions

What resolution do I need for printing?

300 DPI for print. 150 DPI is fine for on-screen reading and most office printing.

Can I convert only one page?

Yes. Enter that page number in the pages field instead of "all".

Why is the ZIP larger than the PDF?

A PDF stores text as text; an image stores every pixel. At 300 DPI each page is 1–3 MB. That is the cost of turning vectors into pixels.
